Well last night the Applied Photography class had its night shoot class. Normally the class will go to Aloha Tower for the shoot. Well, we have had problems getting permission to go there for out shoot so we started looking for someplace else. It was decided that Ala Moana Beach Park - Magic Island would be a great place to go. Our class normally meets on Thursday for for this shoot we met on Friday night.
When we got there I looked up and saw some clouds that would give a great sunset. But the problem is I also wanted to take pictures of the sail boats returning to the harbor. Why is this a problem well the harbor is on one side and the sunset is on the other side of the island. Well I decided the cloud pattern looked too good to pass up so I opted to shoot the sunset and see if I could catch some sail boats after. (Good thing I have a handicap scooter that goes 4.5mph). Well the sail boats didn’t turn out because it was a little too dark to get clear shots but I did get some pretty good shots of the sunset.
Around 8pm on Friday the Hilton Hawaii Village has a ten minute fireworks show (now you know why we move the class to Friday) so I was on the right side for that after shooting the sunset. Anyway, my sister and I had loads of fun taking pictures last night. Sorry class that we weren’t with you to help you more but it is a bit far to get to where you were. We also stayed a little later after the fireworks to take some timed shots. Here are just a few samples of the photos that I was able to capture.

The Applied Photography and the Beginning Photography class will be having an outing at the Lyon Arboretum Sat. Mar. 7 at 8am. We will meet at the Lyon Parking lot. Bring rain gear as this is in Manoa and it does rain there a lot.
Supposedly great for Macro Photography and with some patients birds. Wear comfortable walking shoes and possible protection from mosquitoes. For more information check the outing or syllabus pdf in the Applied Photo Tab.
Hope to see you there.

Aloha ya all,
I have been working on an action for Photoshop, As some of you know Cindy and I are entering a photo exhibit in March at the Pauahi Tower. This is part of the Hawaii Photographic Society shows which they do,
Anyway the photo have to be matted and framed and I wanted to see what the photos would look like. I created this action to add mats (single, double, and triple mats) and you can also add a frame, Any way this action will create and add the mats and frame for you, You don’t have to create the mats. Pretty cool uh. The above is a sample of what it looks like,
Stay tuned for more information.

Well gang the spring 2009 registration is about to begin. This spring Terry has me teaching two classes one one Lightroom and the other on Photoshop.
Check the calendar for all the spring outings. Also I will be posting the syllabus and the outings listed on the side bar of the blog.
Well, 2008 ended with a ball of fireworks. LMHawaii.com and KCSPhoto.org both went down at the same time. Well, LMHawaii.com has been working hard in getting us back. This is a major undertacking and is taking more time that we had expected but it is slowly coming back online. We have lost all the prior post made so we will try and reintroduce them down the road.
We are sorry for the inconvience but rest assured that LMHawaii.com is doing its best to get us back to full strength. As a side note, LMHawaii.com has informed us that one of the host which they had for us has gone under and they are in the process of moving that site to their servers. So KCSGalleries.com is also being worked on. KCSGallery.com is online and working this site has been on LMHawaii.com servers from the start.
Stay tuned more in coming in 2009 I promise.
